Rego Park got its name from the Real Good Construction Company, which built out much of the area in the 1920s — "RE" and "GO", stamped onto the neighborhood permanently. The homes it put up still stand alongside solid prewar apartment buildings.
Queens Boulevard runs through the middle of it and does most of the shopping, and the neighborhood has become a center of the city's Bukharian Jewish community. It is a quieter, more residential part of Queens than the avenues to the west, without ever feeling far from anything.
